Just like car crashes, boat crashes happen, too.
You can reduce the risk by practicing the same safe driving habits on the water that you do on the road.
- Pay attention while operating the boat – “keep your head on a swivel”.
- Keep a proper lookout – see #1 – “keep your head on a swivel”.
- Experience helps: if you are inexperienced, don’t put your passengers in harm’s way.
- Machinery Failure: have the engine inspected annually, check the propeller, and get gas!
Rule: Don’t start a trip anywhere on less than ½ tank!
5. Alcohol: If you drink, drink responsibly. Cars and boats are no different.
